New Single Release: “Big Feelings”

Today I released another song that will be a part of the project I’m creating called, “Songs for the Young and the Young at Heart.”

These are songs written with kids in mind, but with themes that I’m finding resonate equally (if not more!) with adults.

Some of the deepest truths are simple and one of my best forms of communication is songwriting. So these are simple truths in the form of “children’s” songs.

The latest song, “Big Feelings,” starts out with this phrase: “Do you have big feelings? I do too.”

That’s just it. I get it. I’ve been dealing with “big feelings” my entire life.

There have been times when emotions have moved through me with the force of a freight train.

I have been swayed, sculpted, tested, and trialed in the fires of intense emotion.

So I see my children experience “big feelings” and….I get it. I’ve been there.

As big a part of my life as my Christian faith is, mindfulness practices that encourage a focus on the breath have been immensely helpful to me over the years.

Focusing on the breath is a practice as old as time.

We’ve all heard someone say, “Take a deep breath and count to ten.”

Or, “Take a deep breath and walk away.”

The breath has power, the breath is energy, the breath is part of our life force, and it is an excellent anchor for our attention.

It’s always with us!

As I said in my social media post today:

When you feel bad, when you feel mad, when you feel sad….just breathe. Notice the rhythm of your breath. The ceaseless in and out. The oxygen in the room with you. You’re breathing.

What an amazing process. And it’s been happening since the moment you were born. What a blessing. What a gift.

What a simple, wonderful thing.

Emotions come and go. Your breath will be here as long as you are. 💜

“Big Feelings” is now available on all major streaming platforms.

Please listen and share the song if it resonates with you.

Let’s broadcast peace 💜 and awareness to an emotional world. 🌎
