Values and Meaning

I read a piece on modern nihilism yesterday. It was about the crises we are having in society where values are losing their meaning. Even emotions like empathy are used for commercial or political purposes. To sell us one thing or idea or another. This leads people to feel helpless.
I began composing (the following) song in my dreams this morning. Woke up with Patches in my arms, grabbed a book, guitar, and my phone, and finished it all in the oter room. Inspired and awake. Thank you.
Love IS real. We can see it and experience it.
It is demonstrated through acts of kindness, especially when there are no underlying motives. Love for the sake of love. A mother rocking and singing her baby to sleep. My mother did this and I still remember the good portions of the lyrics to the songs she would singing me to sleep with.
Will you be a poet, a singer of songs, sweet tiny baby I rock in my arms.
You’re someone becoming and someday you’ll be the wonderful someone you’re growing to be.
This early experience probably has a lot to do with who I am now.
Other undeniuable acts of love….
A person jumping in front of car or into a river to save someone else’s life. I saw a video of someone jumping in a fast moving river during the NC floods.
